Tully

Tully Mars, formerly known as Michael, came into our homes and hearts a couple of months after we lost our beloved weimy, Monday. Tully was one of Blue Angel's babies, a beautiful shy female weim that had come to the rescue full term and who gave birth to a litter of "saints". His brothers were all named as such given that Blue Angel crossed over the bridge after complications with a difficult birthing. We knew the challenges of bringing a weimy puppy into our home. Where Monday was a rare blessing of calm and class Tully is ALL boy. He and his new brother Bachelor, an seven-year old golden lab are working it out. Newman, the odd man out and cat is training Tully with the aid of a mean left jab. There's never a dull moment and we would not have it any other way!

Thank you MHWR for all of your help and looking out for all of our weimys.

Sam

After losing our first weim to cancer, it took us 6 years to get another. We toyed with getting another breed, but after looking at the MHWR website, decided that a weim was the only dog for us. We met Sam at a Rescue event and were immediately surprised at his gentle nature. Sam was a star from the very beginning! After meeting him a couple of times, we were able to foster him to see how he fit with us. From the very first night, we knew Sam was the weim for us and that we would be his forever home. He is loveable, calm, well-behaved and very loyal. We love walking him, cuddling with him, and especially taking him on car rides. It feels like he’s been with us for his whole life (6 years). We’re so lucky to have been given the opportunity to give Sam a home and we couldn’t be happier to know that we have such a great support in the MHWR. We are grateful for all the hard work and dedication this rescue provides. We look forward to getting our next weim from MHWR and continuing to be a part of this big family! For now, we’ll keep on spoiling Sam!

Holly

We adopted Holly (formerly Daisy) in October 2010. We had gone to an adoption event looking for a typical grey Weim, but after meeting Holly we knew it was only a matter of time before she was a member of our family.

Holly was very shy at first, always scared around new people. But after a few classes with All Breed Rescue and Training and daily runs in the Garden of the Gods and Red Rock Canyon, her confidence has been growing by leaps and bounds. One of her new favorite places is the local Bear Creek Dog Park, where she can run off leash and make lots of new friends with both people and other dogs. We’ve even got her over her fear of cars, enough so that we were able to take her on a long road trip to the Grand Canyon.

Holly’s current hobbies include catching flies, napping, having her belly rubbed, and bagging Colorado 14ers (she’s done four of them this summer!). We’re working hard on getting her to enjoy water.

Tess

We adopted Tess from MHWR in August of 2008. We had just had our 12 yr. old Weim put-down (due to illness) and had lots of room in our hearts to give another four-legged sweetheart a forever home. Tess' original owner had sustained severe injuries from an auto accident and could no longer keep her. A work associate took her but did not know the energy level of a 1 yr. old Weim and wanted to 'trade her in' for a less active dog. Instead he chose to surrender her and luckily Tess became ours. She had sustained trachea damage from many hours of being tied-up in her previous situation, and she had no muscle tone in her legs at all. But she was a love sponge!

Tess is now a lovey-dovey, happy, fetch-o-holic, spoiled, muscle filled pooch who has the run of 1/2 acre. Her favorite outside pass times besides fetching, include stalking bunnies (she won't catch them), chasing squirrels, and running after birds shadows as they fly over! She is a source of constant laughter and love in our house. Thank you, Mile High. You guys are the BEST!

Kether

Kether (AKA Bailey) has proved to be a sweet, loving, fun to be with, happy, well behaved, and comical, and don’t forget beautiful, rescue dog that anyone could hope for. In less than 3 months she has become so attached to us and us to her that we wonder how we did without her. Kether just followed the house rules and knew her way around “her” space from day one. It took about 6 hours for her to understand that the cats, Princess and Cheetah were the ruling pets. Now they are great pals and find each other to be with everyday, inside and out.

Kether just loves to ride in the SUV with her dad going to Home Depot, and Ace hardware and her very favorite, the Fort Collins Dog Park. Kether is ready to go at sunrise for her walk, (although sometimes I have to wake her on her “couch” in the sunroom).

When we take her out, she is the “darling” dog, with many people asking to pet her, which she loves. I always let people know where she came from, and just how careful MHWR was in choosing her new owners.

Mac

We adopted Mac from the Weimaraner Rescue in January. This is our second dog from the rescue and my husband and I are truly happy with our big man. Mac is the biggest Weimaraner we've had. This is our fifth. We have a little dog Mitzi that we inherited from my Mom when she passed away and they are inseparable. We have a doggie door and they are always going in and out together. She is so tiny next to Mac but she knows how to stay away from his big feet. Mac is very sweet and loving and fits right in with our family. He is our velcro dog. He is with my husband during the day in his home office and when I get home he wants to be near me. He sleeps with us every night and always needs to be between us. Mac is happy and healthy and we are so happy that the Weimaraner Rescue was there to bring us this joy in our life with Mac.

Charlee

We initially were going to get a Weimaraner puppy, but after looking through the MHWR website, we chose our dog, Charlee, from her photo and “bio” posted for hopeful adoption. We were impressed with the professionalism of the MHWR. They came to meet us and see our home. They had taken great care of Charlee, finding foster homes for her until we were able to adopt her. They had taken her to the vet to make sure she was given all necessary care and explained to us clearly what Charlee needed as an older Weimaraner dog (she has hip dysplasia and some of her fur had bald spots). They also explained anything that might be of concern. We really appreciated their thoroughness, honesty and help. It gave us the knowledge we needed to continue Charlee’s return to health. Even at six years old, she is bouncing around like a puppy when we take mountain hikes. From the first time we met Charlee, we immediately fell in love with her. She is so sweet and has such good energy. In the four months that she has been a part of our life, she has added love and joy to our home. Throughout the daytime, she loves to nap in the sunshine and just to hang out and relax in the same room with me as I study and do chores. She is my motivation to take advantage of the miles of walking trails that we have in our neighborhood and I love her company as we both get our daily exercise. Every evening, she senses the hour that my boyfriend habitually returns home from work. In anticipation, she becomes restless and paces through the rooms of the house checking for him, props her paws upon the couch to look out the window facing the driveway and barks from excitement at the sounds of any car driving through our neighborhood as one of them might be “Papa.” At bed time, she squeezes in between us to curl up for sleep. As she stretches out throughout the night, she pushes one or both of us to the edge of our queen size bed! But she is so soft and cuddly that we willingly put up with it. Charlee loves car rides anywhere, playing tug-of-war, hikes in the mountains and of course, peanut butter. Everything is perfect with Charlee, except that now we need to buy a king size bed so that we can all three fit comfortably!

Thank you, MHWR, for bringing Charlee into our life! We love her!

Weiser

Weiser, a.k.a. Azure Ray and short for Lord Weisenheimer the Weimeraner, has now been officially with us for one year! He is a healthy and happy four-year-old, with the energy of a puppy, and yet an old soul. He is a Weim mix, and we don't know what else he's mixed with, nor do we care because we love our lil' Weim. mutt. I am thankful every time that I look into Weiser's eyes or come home to his "happy dance", and now call him our .5 child (as in 2.5 children). Seriously, you should see the happy dance...it's quite entertaining! He was very shy when he first came to live with us, but now he runs the house! Not only that, but he has won the hearts of our friends and family who beg for Weiser time. We just wanted to update you on our spoiled little darling and thank you for connecting us with our little bundle of joy.

Jake

Hello MHWR! Its been about a year and a half since we adopted Jake, and oh my gosh- we LOVE him! He has worked his way into all of our hearts and is truly a member of our family. One of his favorite things to do is to accompany our son on the playground equipment at the park. He runs to the top with him, and as our son slides down, Jake races around to the bottom to meet him there! Its adorable. We take lots of trips to the mountains, and he eats up every minute of it! He lives to play fetch with me daily, and takes every opportunity to curl up with us on the couch. He has taken to training well, even working on his obedience titles as we speak. He and his brother run and tumble a million times a day, as they're crazy over one another. I just can't say enough about him. He came into our lives when we weren't really looking for a dog, but I absolutely can't imagine life without him. He is so special.
Thank you all for the work you do, and giving us such an amazing dog! We'll be forever grateful.
